Leading insurer and UK’s largest friendly society, LV=, implements Proclaim for in-house legal team

The UK’s largest friendly society has implemented Eclipse’s Proclaim Case Management Software system for its in-house legal and secretariat team.

LV= provides insurance, investments and retirement products to over five million customers.  Ongoing business expansion within LV= has led to a significant increase in the scope and volume of legal work and services provided by the in-house team.  Following a review of its core management software, the decision was made to roll out a bespoke Proclaim Case Management software solution to fully support and automate workflow.  The system will provide a scalable solution to support future expansion in the provision of legal services.

Proclaim Practice Management Software: selected by Hodge Jones & Allen LLP in £250k investment

London law firm, Hodge Jones & Allen LLP, is implementing Eclipse’s Proclaim Practice Management Software system in a deal valued at £250,000.

Recent growth propelled the firm’s headcount to almost 200 staff and this volume of throughput necessitated a review of internal IT systems.  Following full analysis of the software market, Hodge Jones & Allen selected Eclipse’s Proclaim system.

Proclaim PPI Case Management Software - Slater Hayward Law invests in firm-wide rollout

Ambitious young practice, Slater Hayward Law, is implementing Eclipse's Proclaim Case Management Software in a firm-wide rollout.

Slater Hayward specialises in financial claims, namely mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) and unreasonable credit card / loan charges.  Following the British Bankers Association’s (BBA) decision not to pursue further legal action over PPI, all outstanding mis-selling cases are currently being settled.  The resultant influx of new cases for Slater Hayward resulted in the need to find a software solution that could provide a robust and efficient claims handling environment.

Alternative Business Structures

The message from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is loud and clear.  Alternative Business Structures (ABS) are coming and despite the delay they will soon be in position to begin accepting applications.

At a recent event, sponsored by Eclipse Legal Systems, SRA Chief Executive - Andrew Townsend - spoke about the regulatory delays and the levels of current interest being experienced in the ABS application process.

Points of note included:
  • 15 "serious discussions" are currently ongoing with firms including claims management companies, law firms, major retailers, accountancy firms, loss adjusters and private equity houses
  • The SRA is planning to open its books to ABS applicants in December

Proclaim integration – Land Registry Business Gateway

The Land Registry has recently announced that it has dropped the proposed charge of £7,000 for conveyancers to utilise its Business Gateway.

This is fantastic news for the property sector, coming after much lobbying from various parties including Eclipse.

The turnaround will enable conveyancers to benefit from Business Gateway features without a prohibitive cost element.

We have requested formal specifications from the Land Registry to enable us to integrate Proclaim Conveyancing with the Gateway.  These have been promised for mid-September – we will keep you updated regarding progress.

Alternative Business Structures - Land of Opportunity?


October will undoubtedly bring change to the legal services marketplace, but Alternative Businesses Structures can be just as much an opportunity as a threat.

Later this year the time for talking will finally be over. Ever since the publication of the Legal Services Act four years ago, there have been varying predictions on the scale and impact of Alternative Business Structures (ABS).

Some commentators have painted a bleak picture for current providers with the likes of Tesco, ASDA, Virgin and the AA all queuing up to take advantage of deregulation which will allow nonlegals to either own law firms or hold management positions therein.  However, others have suggested a less dramatic impact on the market with a few well-known consumer brands - banks, estate agents and so on - adding legal services to their existing offerings.

Another record year for Eclipse Legal Systems as turnover hits £8m

The UK’s leading Case Management Software provider, Eclipse Legal Systems, has reported record results for its 2010/11 trading year.

The firm’s previous best results came in 2009/10, when the audited turnover figure stood at £6.6million.  The financial year 2010/11, which ended on 30th June, saw Eclipse announce a revenue increase of 21% to a record high of £8million.

Eclipse Legal Systems proclaims A2A "Release 1" rollout a success

Leading case management software provider, Eclipse Legal Systems, has announced successful rollout of its A2A "Release 1" update.

The RTA portal developer ('RTA Portal Company') has implemented a series of changes to streamline use of the system for claimant solicitors. This update is known as 'Release 1' and went live on 29th March, it being mandatory for all portal users to comply with the new system with immediate effect.

Eclipse has rolled out the 'Release 1' changes to over 100 of its RTA law firm clients, resulting in full compliance - by the stated deadline - for all Proclaim A2A users. Clients include national heavyweights through to small and high-street firms.

New CCBC submission process: Eclipse claims a first

Leading case management software provider, Eclipse Legal Systems, has announced a first in enabling its clients to utilise a more efficient debt recovery claim process.

The Northampton County Court Bulk Centre (CCBC) enables organisations managing debt recovery claims to submit high volume cases for issuing and judgments. The service allows the 'fast-tracking' of generally undefended claims, reducing the administrative burden of processing them individually.

Fentons Solicitors LLP, a Top 200 law firm and one of the UK's leading claimant personal injury practices, has selected Eclipse’s Proclaim Practice Management software solution.

Providing a nationwide service from offices in Manchester and London, Fentons concentrates solely on services for accident victims (from ‘fast-track’ claims through to complex spinal and head injuries), and recovers tens of millions of pounds worth of compensation every year.

Rapid growth and a sustained increase in the level of claims received necessitated an in-depth analysis of the firm’s existing IT systems. Fentons made the decision to replace its incumbent practice management solution with Eclipse’s Proclaim system, for an initial rollout of 200 users.
